How to flash firmware via usb et6x00 et4x00

USB flash drive (FAT32 formatted)

USB device (E.g. USB memory stick) In the root directory, create a folder et6x00 or et4x00 and copy the following 5 files to that location

Boot.bin

kernel.bin

rootfs.bin

imageversion

noforce ( can  be renamed in "force" for automatic Flash.)

Plug the USB media into the USB connector either to the front or back . Now power off from the power button on the back of the box. After switching on, the box detects when if the firmware is present on the USB media. If the yellow / orange LED lights up, the firmware is detected. Press the UP button on the front panel to load the firmware to your STB. If the Green LED  lights up together with the  yellow / orange, then the box is loading the firmware. Please be patient, because it will take a few minutes to complete the upgrade. If the yellow / orange LED goes off loading is complete. The box will restart automatically.

-Note-during the upgrade not unplug or shut down

-The front panel has three LEDs: red, green, yellow / orange

Thats the bit that i needed confirming, the ET4000 does not have a UP button on the front panel so i'm assuming you mean the top button under the card flap ?.

Please help me on this.

I'm following all instructions but no success.

After download the file openatv-4.0-et4x00-20140421_usb.zip from OpenATV, inside I see a DIR et4x00 with 5 files:

imageversion

kernel.bin

noforce

rootfs.bin

splash.bin

Extract this DIR to a root of a FAT32 formatted pen, power off the box, insert the pen and power ON.

The box never recognizes the new software, green light never goes off, just boot normally.

Appreciate your help.

With my et4000 - I have to rename the file noforce to force.

Also only the back usb port works for flashing.

Cheers.
